The drama! A 1960s gown overflowing with drama. Created out of a luscious fabric and unique trimmings, plus a cut that keeps on giving. Jewel neckline with high cut opening on the arms. Fitted waist and piping at the hip line, plus added pleats for hip volume. The brocade has an unusual pattern below the gold paisley floral design, with interlocking stripes in shades of green and bronze-brown. A floor length gown with a sweeping grand finale (and also our favorite part) THE FRINGE. Rich, big, thick, get your mind out of the gutter, and brass-gold in color, with sprinkled metallic threads that give it a bounce of shimmer like the rest of the dress. Detailed interior is fully lined in soft black fabric and an interior grosgrain ribbon belt finished the structure. Jaw dropping the second you enter when wearing this completely unrivaled piece (unless of course you get your hands on THE Curtain Dress).
The left over curtain material from Tara’s plantation that didn’t make the cut…
Walter Plunkett who designed Scarlett O’Hara’s iconic Curtain Dress based it on Gone With The Wind author Margaret Mitchell’s own real family drapes that survived the gutting of their family plantation during the take over of the Union Army. The pair of drapes are now passed down from generation to generation as a treasured heirloom. All in all, this imaginative and unique green velvet gown truly represents survival, both in life and in film. Not unlike this dress, which has survived time, traveling through all of the decades and arriving right here and now..
If you don’t have an ideal plumed hat or tassel curtain tie backs to use as a belt a la Scarlett…some gigantic earrings will do, as gigantic as you can handle for a long night. Alternatively, smaller earrings with a necklace draping over the neckline. Drapes love jeweling, and after all this is a jewel neckline, designed for jewelry display.
