Ruched, shirred, draped, and all encasing…everything you could ever want from a silk velvet. A 1930s gorgeous and plush gown in a rich garnet jewel tone. Shirring that encompasses the entire waist area, ending just below the bust and just above the hips, giving an hourglass shape. Pleated and draped bust, tucked and pleated sleeves with matching shirring on the sleeve edge. Skirt is wonderfully full and drops straight down but has a lot of movement due to the generous pleating. The velvet is just so soft and in wonderful condition, all around magic and fantasy from the 1930s.
Fantasist – a person who imagines or dreams about something desired. One who creates fantasies, one who writes or composes fantasies, one living in a fantasy world.
There are many fantasists that we admire, just to name a couple…Helena Rubinstein and Elsa Schiaparelli.
Flexibility in silk velvets like these, certainly can be worn with any preferred heels or even flats, especially gold flats!
Bust – 36-38 inches
Waist – 30-34 inches
Length – 58 inches
Excellent, very wearable, condition. The velvet is still plush and has minimal wear. Has had some repair work over the years from regular use. Main area that has had repair us under the armpit on the right side, noticeable from the inside of the garment. There was a repair done to a tear at the bottom of the hem at the front left side of the skirt. Some repairs may have been done to the shirring over the years. Flaws are not noticeable when worn.
