Elegant isn’t quite the word but it definitely exudes it, perhaps exquisite is more like it. True to its period, the shape and style is very mid century. This entire gown is completely covered in delicate stitched metallic gold leaves that gently veil the vibrant floral garden pattern underneath. The fabric is a heavyweight satin brocade with colors of fuchsia, deep purple, turquoise, navy, orange and green. Boat neckline that scoops in the back. Front left shoulder has light ruching giving the bust line some drama and dimension while the zipper closure hides between a bouquet of vertical looped bows. Completely fitted in all the best places and then flares out slightly at the bottom to dramatize the hips and allow for easier movement.
If Eve had her own garden, we imagine it would be something like this fabric. Bright, beautiful, and bold flora covering the grounds that gets enveloped and shaded by big translucent gold and silver leaves. As the story goes, Eve was tempted by a serpent to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. She’s told that the fruit would make her more like God. Sharing is caring so she shares the fruit with Adam and their eyes were opened. When asked about eating the fruit, instead of acknowledging his own choices, Adam deferred the blame to Eve, “The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me the fruit of the tree, and I did eat”. Also not acknowledging her own choices, Eve blamed the serpent. And so, they were banished from the Garden of Eden. Perhaps in another story, she could have had the Garden of Eve.
Slink about with or without gloves, in fact, we’d prefer without. Skin under flora is always a beautiful thing. Gold or nude heels would be ideal!

Excellent, wearable condition. Fabric is strong and vibrant, looks to not have been worn. Due to the nature of metallic thread, some minor pulling may have happened in the fabric, though we didn’t notice any.
