Such a beautiful and unique piece from the 1910s. Incredible rich black brocade with woven rose flowers and thorns. Past the elbow in sleeve length with white ribbed piping at the edge. Fold over collar featuring a pleated front modesty panel. Wide ruched “belt” closure in front, dress itself closes with hook and eyes down the center. Wonderful tailoring throughout, creating a stunning timeless silhouette, despite being over 100 years of age! This is quite a luxurious piece of wearable history.
George Washington was one of the first rose breeders in the United States. Back on his plantation Mount Vernon he enjoyed planting in the what he called the Pleasure Garden. It featured a variety of roses and many different colorful flowers.
Nothing could bring this extraordinary piece of history down. Wear almost with anything you love…flats, heels, boots, jewels or just plain.
